Receiving a Secure Message
When the recipient's site does not have Zix Secure Messaging Services
What if I forget my password?
When the recipient's site also uses Zix Secure Messaging Services
When the recipient's site does not have Zix Secure Messaging Services:
When a secure message is sent to a recipient that does not also use Zix Secure Messaging Services, they are sent a clear text email with instruction on obtaining the
secure message. The secure email resides on the SBHCS's secure website. When the intended recipient authenticates via log on, a secure, encrypted connection is made.
The steps below outline the process a remote user would have to do to access the secure message.
- A notice like the one below is sent to the remote user's email. To pick-up the secure message from the ZixMessage Center™ they will click the link provided in the notification email.
- If this is the first time they are accessing the secure messaging system they will be taken to a Password Creation screen. They should create a password and re-enter it in the Re-enter Password field. They should also create a password reminder phrase. This will be used to remind them of their password if they forget it. When finished, they should click the Submit Password button. They will use this password each time to log into the ZixMessage Center.
- They have now successfully activated their password and will be taken into their secure message. They will see a screen similar to this one.
- After viewing the secure message, simply close your browser to log off. This completes the secure connection to the encrypted email.
If recipient has already created a password before they will still get the notice email (from step 1) but when they click on the link provided in the email, they will simply be asked
to enter their password which will then allow them to access their secure message (as in step 3).
What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, simply click on the Change Password link as shown below:
When the recipient's site also uses Zix Secure Messaging Services:
If the recipient's site also has the Zix VPMs (secure messaging) the message encryption happens in the background on both ends. Messages are sent between locations across the internet encrypted. When the message is received by recipient, their Zix VPM decrypts the message and delivers it to the intended recipient. Therefore the use of the clear text message & SBHCSSECURE website is not used. See the figure below.
